Arisaig serves up guid Scottish food that your granny would be proud of in surroundings of understated elegance. Warm neutral tones and welcoming leather armchairs help set the relaxed tone and large prints of stunning costal landscapes by chef Stephen Bonomi provide features that are more interesting and personal than the more common ‘art as design solution’. Local produce and seasonality are words that really mean something here with Shetland monkfish, South Uist smoked salmon and Argyll Hills venison. And it’s not all haggis and cranachan; prepare to be delighted by forgotten ingredients like kale, cairgein and seaweed. The menu is divided into ‘The Sea’ and ‘The Land’, but if you find it difficult to choose they also offer a board combining the two with Loch Etive oysters, smoked salmon, marinated mussels & prawns, Rannoch smoked chicken and venison, haggis, Arran Blue cheese and oatcakes with relish.
